A unique, welcoming space to express yourself
The goal of Cultured Swine Barbershop is to offer a safe, welcoming space to anyone who enters. With gender neutral pricing and allyship with the LGBTQ+ community, we strive to create a warm, judgement free environment where you can express yourself, your style, and your feelings in comfort. We aim to create a meaningful connection and the slickest of haircuts.
Cultured Swine Barbershop’s first location opened in August 2020, amidst the uncertainty of the Covid-19 pandemic. Nestled in between the shops of lower Johnson St, the shop is a quaint 45 square feet, and North America's smallest storefront.
Our newest location opened April of 2023, and is a short 2 blocks away from our OG location. The View St. studio is bigger than our micro shop, but still offers that cozy experience we strive for.
Shop owner and operator Taylor completed her cosmetology diploma at the Aveda Institute of Victoria in 2015. After working at Hive Salon for a year, she ventured into the world of barbering- traveling to The Netherlands to complete advanced training at the Olde School Barber Academy.
Barber Joel recently moved back to Victoria due to the pandemic. He previously had been living in Australia and New Zealand, where he completed his barbering apprenticeship and was honing his skills. When he is not at the shop, you will likely find him with a skateboard or surfboard in hand.
